CARTIER – a mid 20th century elephant brooch. The textured elephant, with bead detail and circular sapphire cabochon eye. Signed and numbered Cartier, partially illegible. French assay marks. Length 4.2cms. Weight 12.6gms.
The lot is in good overall condition with light scratches in keeping with minimal wear. Slight file mark to base edge of one foot. Stamped with French maker’s mark, ‘Made in France’ and partial French assay marks to the double pin. Stamped 18Kts near to Cartier mark on ear. Number poorly struck near Cartier mark, possibly 3938.
