Angel Cameo Brooches. Angels and cherubs have been portrayed on brooches since the Roman times, showing how important they have been throughout history. Nyx, the Goddess of Night is often portrayed as an angel.

Cameo with the Archangel Michael probably late 14th century Byzantine The archangel Michael, commander of the heavenly host, became one of the most popular saints during Byzantium’s last centuries. Depictions usually show him in the robes worn by the Byzantine emperor or dressed in armor.
